can you elaborate on how to remove the cat, my new 12' glide does run very hot
I would give Steve at Fullsac a call. For $199 exchange He will remove the cat and ceramic coat the stock head pipe. Steve also re-cores the stock slip-ons
Check them out at www.fullsac.com
Cutting the access hole, instead of cutting the pipe in half, I'm sure will help keep some strength and integrity of the pipe. This is how I did mine, better sound, more power and NO more Heat
Take an 1 1/2 inch hole saw it will take the baffle out cleanly if they look like the ones in the picture. I have done two sets like this decatted the head pipe as well and they sound really good. Even the guys at the dealership ask are those stock they have a nice deep sound to them. Look in the end of your muffler it should look like the picture. if it does not look like this don't mess with them go to the dealer and pick up a set of take offs that do.
You don't even need to cut, just hammer a .75 inch round bar all the way through. One side just has 1 metal cap that needs to be perforated through, and the other has 2 metal caps that are easily removed by hammering them out. Sound is great! Only a little quiet from the driver position.
I took the baffles out of my 2012 Wide Glide today. Took about 20 minutes and the differance is great. Sounds great with a deep rumble like a Harley should.

I don't know if anyone suggested it but, Wild Pigs slip-ons are under $300.00 and very nice sounding. http://www.wildpigpipes.com/ I had them on my '06 Road King Classic and liked them a lot.
I am still running my stock mufflers on my 2011 Road Glide and love the sound they produce, but, I changed the stock header for the Jackpot 2-1-2 header. The stock mufflers are not THAT restrictive, and without those cats in the crossover, the sound increased to a level that is just a bit less than the V&H Monster Rounds with their X-Pipe header.
thanks for the info. after all this, i think i will just go with a set of rinehearts. ive heard from several people about the triple welds and really hard to remove the baffles without a machine shop.
I have a better idea that will save you a ton over those rineharts. Buy these...http://www.ebay.com/itm/3096-HARLEY-...fe96c8&vxp=mtr and then get yourself a hammer and a chisel (chisel set can be had at sears for like $10). PM me when you do and I will show you how to get those baffles out in about 10 minutes per pipe WITHOUT punching thru the welds. Then, use the extra cash saved for some other upgrades (like tuner, cams, intake, etc.)...that's what I did and it has worked out great.
