Default Why Do You Take The Tourpak Off?

Not sayin' it's wrong. A lotta guys do it. Just wondering why. I bought a Classic, and now an Ultra because I WANTED a tourpak on it. I've never taken it off. Don't want to. Just curious.

I take mine off over the winter especially because my wife will not ride in cold weather. Dont need it without her on the back and looks much better without . I have a SG so I like the cleaner look without.

Looks better in my opinion. Less like an ice cream cart. And it gives slightly noticeably lighter feeling (less top heavy) to the bike when its off. Much lighter feeling if it has been loaded up recently.

I know I'm not a UC rider and I have a RK, but I have a detachable Tourpak. Fantastic storage for touring, and the wifey prefers it for riding two up. Other than that its off.

As for most, it's to have a cleaner look. I'm with you though, I carry around too much stuff and use my bike often for errands so I need my box on all the time.

had the Electra glide classic. wife loved the tourpak I didnt like the look, went Street glide ..I loved the look , she hated not having the tourpak... So now I have a new Road Glide custom , and a detachable tourpak, so I have the sportier looks, and better handling when I want and she has the comfort when she goes ....kind of the best of both worlds kinda deal... alot of people want the sportier look of no tourpak...

Most of the time need the Tourpack .. If it was detachable would probably take it off sometimes .. But not enough to justify the cost of making it so ..

Once the detachable conversion is done it takes all of 5 minutes to swap out the TP. I have two rides in one. Monday thru Friday I have a Mustang and on Saturday and Sunday I have a station wagon. We are both happy.

With me it's more a question of when would I put mine on. I bought one with my bike in October of 2008. I used it on a trip to Sturgis in 2009 and a trip to my bro-in-laws cabin in 2010. The rest of the time it has just sat in my garage. It's big, ugly and looks like I'm delivering pizzas. Other than that it's great.
