I have the Harley adjustable and love it. You csn adjust it on the fly depending on how your back is feeling.

Which holes did you use for the base (over the studs)? I have mine in the rear (top) holes with the base in it's most forward position. I also tried the 2nd holes from the rear. Neither really centered the backrest in the seat slot.

That's it exactly.

Long days are much more comfortable sitting up straight. Once your straight you need to adjust your highway pegs, controls, bars and shield height to keep you that way.

Mine was made to match Road Zeppelin seat and it has a sharp vertical V shape in the center. It is not adjustable and as you can see here there are a lot of opinions on that. I thought it might be a problem when I first installed it but I think it really helps for comfort over the smooth/straight accross models. It seems to fit my backbone better. I think this kit has been discontinued but here is the P/N if you want to search for it. 52336-97. I just bought it a few months ago so they are still out there.

Hope this helps.
You may need a seat belt to keep your sound system from blowing you off of the bike ;-)

It takes a while to get used to the new position after riding the other way but now I don't want to ride without it.

I used the holes that position the bracket all the way back on the fender studs and the front strap is adjusted to position it all the way back also. It started out looking funky but the seat slot has conformed to that position and it looks fine after 100 to 200 miles. .

had the Adjustable HD backrest on my 06 Ultra, LOVED IT...Traded in for the 08, and kept the backrest. Mounted the control lever on the heat shield (drill a hole, cut out to size, and 2 little screw holes) WILL NOT Ride without it.
