Has any mounted the control lever for the adjustable backrest onto the air deflectors. I have seen it done on another bike a while back, but did not get to talk with the owner about the quality of it being mounted there.
Thru plastics, I doubt it. Mine is mounted behind my "No More Fried Thighs" heat deflector, easy to reach behind to adjust on the fly. These shields are sheet aluminum inside, you can flex adjust if needed (but you probably won't need too), look sharp, and are incredibly durable. Check them out!
I mounted mine behind the HD air deflector last year. So far so good. I was a bit concerned with only one bolt holding it in however its held up nicely. The lever base feels solid when I operate the lever. Access is ok too. Good enough for on the road adjusting.
I'm going to be doing this same install too. I have the HD Mid Frame Deflectors and picked up the HD Adjustable Riders backrest. I had the deflectors on my 09 FLHRC and took them off when I traded it in, and put them on my 12 FLHTC. I'm pretty good with a Dremel, and I was also thinking of mounting the adjusting lever into the left deflector. I would also like to see pics of anyone else who has done this. Not much at all to the adjustment lever itself, and I think if you leave the Metal Mounting bracket off, and just mount the plastic square part that the lever is in it would hold up ok in the deflector.

Thanks Larry, I think if we ditch this Metal Bracket and just mount the Lever itself it'll work just fine. My bike is in storage in a buddys heated garage, but I'm planning on getting it out soon. I think it would look very trick mounted into the deflector, and plus it would be easy to get to. We should be able to use the same mounting screws that come with the kit too. I know that when I'm on a long freeway ride I do get the Highway Pegs out, and adjust the backrest back some too. I have a manual adjusting (thumb screw) Mustang Backrest now, and it does ok too, but I like the looks of the HD one much better though.
