Question Need help with Adjustable Backrest mount

Does anyone have the 52596-09A mount installed on their bike? I have the mount installed that holds the back rest but am not sure about the other end where the cable lever is located. I put the clip on and mounted the lever but apparently stripped out the bolt that goes through it with a 1/4" ratchet somehow and am not sure I have it attached correctly. The instructions kept referring to the mid-frame air deflector which my 2014 SGS does not have. I also wasn't sure if the cable was supposed to go through the hole on the side of the bracket.

A picture or 2 of the lever end mounted on a Street Glide or other bike without the deflector would be a huge help. Thanks in advance.

Glad you got it figured out...I was about to post some pics for you. The H-D instructions for this kit are not very good. I was able to figure it out as well, despite the instructions, not because of them.

Love my adjustable backrest, but I need to get mine straightened out a bit--the stock bend in the backrest seems to place it a little too far forward, even when it is back as far as it will go. I tried to straighten it myself, even using a torch with MAPP gas, but couldn't get it adjusted enough. I'm going to bring it to a buddy who has an oxy-acetylene rig for a bit more heat. I only need a couple more degrees to get it perfect.

I think I like it. With the stock seat it seems to stick out a bit far though. It almost looks unfinished for lack of a better way to describe it.

One of the best additions I made to the bike. Makes a world of difference for me on long rides. See pic, where on the lowest backrest pin setting there's very little space between the backrest and seat.

On my Street Glide the rest sits up much higher even at the lowest setting.

I see that yeah, maybe someone can reposition that welded pin-hole plate on the back lower and cut off a portion of the top, then it will sit as low as you need. Looks like it can be done if someone has that capability.

I cut about 2" out of the bracket below the pad above the angle, and rewelded it. You can't tell by looking at it, and it sits nice and low when I run my Street Glide seat. When I use my Ultra seat, I just simply adjust the pad up to the higher holes on the bracket. Too easy.

Yep, kinda what I was trying to describe. Sounds like the perfect mod for the OP. Ingenuity is a great thing, especially on these bikes....
