The Focal Access line is their entry level speaker... if fact I dont think they actually build that line. I believe that line is being built in China... I'm sure they probably sound decent but if you want real quality Focal speakers I would recommend that you go up a level or two. The Focal CVX models (6.5" or sometimes referred to as a 6.75") has a built in crossover for the tweeter and woofer. Would be well worth the extra money. Crutchfield has them listed as discontinued but they are ususaly on ebay and I seen that Fatbaggers still had them for sale on their site. www.ebay.com/itm/Focal-165-CVX-165cvx-6-1-2-2-way-CV-Series-6-5-Coaxial-Car-Stereo-Speakers-/290674922868?pt=Car_Speakers&hash=item43ad935574&v xp=mtr
Great info, but I want to add that everyone needs to be CAREFUL when buying Focals on eBay........LOTS of counterfeits on there. Plenty of info on focals website on how to tell the difference...like the laser inscribed serial number on each one. Just so you know.
There are some Focal KRCs for sale is the classifieds, if you want a top tier speaker at a budget price. Some of the best coaxial speakers there are in my opinion. I've ran Arc Audio, Hertz, and Focal in my fairing.
Definitely check out the audio section here as well. Lots of very knowledgeable guys in there that will help you get the most for your dollar, just let them know a budget.
PIONEER TS-D1602R 6.5" are some of the best bang-for-the-buck drivers I've ever heard, and I used to compete in United States Autosound Competition, USAC so I was fortunate to be able to listen to a wide variety.
Shove a couple in that batwing fairing and put an amp on them and ride out!!
The Pioneer TS-D1602R's appear to be yesterday's news. The Pioneer TS-6900 Pro's are now the go to speaker in the lids according to the audio guru's. Agreed, get your info in the Audio section.
** Ooops. Was thinking 6x9 versus 6.5. My bad. **
Generally speaking, the higher the spl, the less power you need to drive them to loudness. So a smaller amp is needed to drive them to an equally loud volume. Why buy a huge amp when it's not needed?
