Clock in the odometer???

The stock radio communicates with the speedo/tach unit through a communication wire. The stock radio get vehicle speed info from the speedo that is how the auto volume control works on the radio. The Electriglide standard model shares the same speedo as say a Ultra Classic so the clock function is included in the speedo as the standard has no radio. When you replace the stock radio with an aftermarket radio the speedo no longer communicates with the radio so it knows to display a clock function, also you will notice that the auto volume control does not work any longer with the aftermarket radio installed.
