I have the new antenna Harley just came out with. Got great reception from eastern MA all the way to Daytona and back last week. I also used a splitter and the short rubber antenna and bent it under my chopped tour pak.
I'll pile on here. I have a 2012 FLHX and just installed the hidden antenna (76000266) connecting using the jumpers to the cig plug. This this works terrible when something is plugged into the cig plug. I can't even change stations as it thinks each static channel is a station when searching up or down. It works a bit better when I do not have anything plugged into the cig plug. I use a GPS and plug it into the cig plug to keep it charging while riding. I'm wondering folks having issues are also robbing accessory power with other items as I am. Anyone overcome this issue?
I had the hidden antenna from Harley on my Electra Glide and it sucked. I have a Street Glide now and I'm just going to hide the antenna either in the fairing or along the frame somewhere.
So looks like good and bad here for hidden antennas. I was looking at the Kury 853 anyone run one of those on a street glide? and whats the verdict?
I've been looking at that one too. I was going to mount my stock whip under the fairing like some others, but I can't seem to find the cable I need to use to do it. Radio Shack was no help.
The Tune Trapper is a confusing item. Some sites say it is compatable with the Weather Band, some say it isn't.
I just ordered the tune tracker to replace the boom hidden one. The tune tracker is not powered, so I shouldn't have this issue where when the cig plug is stealing power that the boom just doesn't work. I'll let you know once it's installed. I was also thinking of trying to tie the boom into power somewhere else to see it tha works any better.
Well, I spent some time in the garage last night. I added a y splitter and installed the tune trapper and the reception was lousy when the GPS was plugged into the cig plug with both the Boom Hidden antenna and the tune trapper in use. I removed the boom hidden antenna and will be taking this back to the stealership to attempt to return is. The tune tracker alone works well, but not as good as the stock whip. I left the y splitter in line and hooked the stock plug into the other end in case I want to just screw the whip back in. Bottom line is that I've yet to find a hidden antenna that works close to as well as a hidden antenna. hidden the whip is an option, I just haven't come to terms with that option...yet. Just feels a bit of a jury rig to me.
