I just finished installing the passing lamp kit for the Street Glide. Very happy with the look, would have been an easier job if not for the damn confusing HD instructions.
My question is this, the passing lamps work fine with headlight on low beam but when I activate the high beam they shut off, Is this normal? As added info I have the HD garage door opener wich is wired through the high beam, not sure If it is pertinant.

So how bad was the install? Thinking about doing this too and was wanting to know should I take to the dealer or try to install myself. Also any pics of the finished product?

Dont have pics but It looks very good, there are a lot of guys here on the forum with them on to form your own opinion. As far as instructions, well let me say that you have to bevery patient and calm, the HD instructions are simply terrible. you got to take your time and think It through, a manual is a must. My only real problem was with the ignition switch. When Icame to put it back on i went too quickly thinking that I remembered, but instead I put It on wrong, had thebike all locked up, anyways after a few deep breath and a bit of common sensei got It right. I would say that the dealer would charge you 2.5 to 3.0 hours of labour for install, very glad I did it myself.
I did the modification to have my passing lamps stay on when high beams come on, more light. I also installed a garage door opener through a relay to the high beams....but not the overpriced HD one, just a simple $10 one
hey dawg...put apost of how to up on the 10buck garage door opener

no kidding, I have a free one right now, but it consists of me getting off the bike, openin my front door, going into the garage and opening the door..... I would like a $10 easy to open opener.
You need to move the yellow wire from your switch to the hot wire on you acc switch.
Your lites cut off because they no longer get 12v when you go to high beams.

I followed one of the ones that you can find all over the web, but I made mine look a little more professional. You can use an old door opener remote or buy a new one. If you have a 12v model you can wire it directly to the 12v system on your scoot so you never have to replace the battery. Mine was not a 12v model so I have to pull the outer fairing every 4-5 years to change the battery (not a big deal). I pulled the headlight connector off and opened the back of the connector itself and used a 12v tester to see which contact was the high beam wire. Then I attached a wire to that contact and closed up the lid on the connector. I ran that wire to the appropriate contact on a 12v relay that I used. Then I ran another wire from the relay and connected it to a ground (I used the ground on the cigarette plug). Then I took the remote and took it apart and located the four contacts behind the button that pushes to open the door. I connected two wires to two of the contacts (test by touching the two wires together to see if the door opens) to act as the "jumper." Connect each of those wires to the appropriate contacts on the relay. I then connected the mounting tab of the relay to the fairing bracket bolt to make it look like it was factory and tested the whole set up by turning on the high beam and watching my garage door open. Then I put the remote back together with a little hole in the two halves so that the two small wires that were attached can come through and I velcroed the remote to the top of the radio. Put the fairing back on and you're done! The remote under the fairing doesn't work at the bottom of the drive like it does in my car, but it works as I get closer which is still alot better than fumbling in my pocket.
