I have a 2010 FLHTK and I have radio problems. Without the headsets plugged up, the radio will just stop playing. I can change the position of the speaker switch and it will start again for a few minutes and then stop again. I checked the Diognistics on the radio and it gave a code of "B2021 Rear Speaker Open". If any one has any suggestions. it would be appreciated. Mamma doesn't always ride so I could use the speakers without the headsets. Thanks in advance.
It's not a simple fix; you will have to send it in to somebody.
Hopefully you are still under warranty, if not: these people fixed mine http://www.ironcrossaudio.com/
Sounds like it could be a broken circuit board, as mentioned it will most likely have to be repaired under warranty or by Iron Cross Audio.
Mine had a real similar problem. Would work intermittently and flipping the speaker switch would help for a time. Gradually it got worse to the point the 'switch technique' no longer worked at all.
Mine just gave me the 2017 FL Speaker Open error.
I went to the shop and I have the extended warranty, no problems, worked fine till today ~ 11:30 went to meet my wife for lunch and no radio. Later on it was working through my headset then crapped out again.
Little doubt that your HK unit has suffered vibration damage. Had the same issue with my 08 Ultra. Your mind is going to tell you that the switch is the real problem due to the fact that when you flip it back and forth a few times the sound will come back. As stated before this will work for awhile but the time will come that the sound will not come back on. Many and I do mean many have had this issue with their HK unit. Call or checkout Iron Cross Audio on the web. You will be glad that you did. They will make your radio better than new.
Same thing happened to mine. I have a 2011 street glide. These things are pieces of junk. I replaced my radio with an aftermarket one and it made a world of difference.
My 1st radio lasted 40 miles Totally died on the way home from the dealer. They ended up giving me a new one 2 weeks later at my 1k service. Almost 2K miles now and no more trouble
