Default XM antena location

I bought a used XM module for my RoadGlide. It came out of an ultra so the antena mounting bracket is different. I snapped the magnetic antena onto the top of the radio. It works most of the time but does loose reception sometimes.

Can someome tell me exactly where the antena is supposed to be mounted. A pic would be helpful. I'm kind of cheap and don't want to go out and buy a bracket, I think I can make one or modify the Ultra one.

Thanks.

It's just an 'L' shaped bracket bolted to the radio caddy with the bolts that hold the radio in. I had it in mine and it picked up the signal real well.

On the ouside of the radio caddy. I assume facing straight up. Yeah makes sense. I guess I can drill a couple holes in the ultra bracket I have and stick it on there. Thanks.

Yeah, outside. The 'L' is upside down to get the antenna close to the inner fairing.

I ran an XM on my bike for a couple of years.
I placed he little antenna on the lower exterior part of my windshield sown near the fairing and ran the wire in the track for the windshield over to the left side of the bike where the radio was mounted on my left handlebar.

You stuck the antena on the windshield? Would that be mostly in a vertical position? How well did it work? Did it ever cut out?

Thanks.

I have the one that came with the zumo 665. I put it in the left hand corner of the radio (cig lighter side). I get really good reception. One thing that someone told me that I made sure to do was to make sure all other wiring in the fairing was not near the antenna. Check to see if that is not what is interfering with your reception.

I put mine on the top of the fairing with some velcro - Kinda tacky - I want to place it under the fairing as suggested but still not too sure about reception -
