OK. Problems today.
I have an 02 FLHR.
SE 203's
95" bore kit
D&D Fat Cat
SE High Flow air filter system
Crane coil
Crane Hi T4 tuneable ignition
A exhaust stud snapped off in the font head. Pulled it off and tried to remove the broken stud with no success.
A Buddy burned it out on an edm machine.
When we reinstalled the head, we decided to go with SE adjustable push roads.
Set them up right and all and when we fired her up, front cylinder knocking/clatter like you wouldn't believe.
Took off the head and checked everything over very carefully.
Then we reassembled using the the stock pushrods. Same result. Knocking/clatter like crazy.
Tore it down again and put it back together using another head my buddy had sitting around.
Noise like crazy.
No noise prior to the tear down. AT all.
All parts have been put back with no changes except the broken stud was removed. Sounds like a lifter or rocker arm.
Any ideas?
How? Why? Fixes?
Thoughts?
Followed the service manual. Used all the correct torque specs but something went wrong.
I'm a little lost.
Input anyone?
RK
Where did it sound like the noise was coming from? How long did you let it run before shutting it off? It could have been a lifter that had bled down, they can take several minutes to pump up sometimes. Other than that I have no idea what else it could have been.

Yes. Several minutes and the sound did subside a fair amount but it was still there.
Maybe fire it up again and let it idle longer??
Like already suggested, let it run a little longer to pump up the lifter. Hope for the best, maybe increase rpm's just a little to raise your oil pressure. If you are running a stock oil pump and the oil is cold, it will take a while to get the lifter where it needs to be.
If this does not work, get a stethescope to isolate the noise.
