Default Heritage Bars on a RKC

I followed the standard advice for replacement bars and went with the Heritage's. Now my throttle cable is binding and will not return to idle. Did anyone else have to replace their cables when they did their swap? I was under the impression that it was necessary. The clutch is fine, just the throttle giving me issues. If replacement is necessary, what length did you guys use?

Check your cable routing as the standard length should be sufficient for those type bars.

I can't see anything obvious that I've done. I rotated the controls and that helped a little, but the return is still lazy. If I tighten the idle cable to try to get more spring back it binds worse and doesn't return at all.

Sounds like the throttle is binding. I would take it apart again and check the cables. Also there is the adjusting screw under the throttle that puts resistance on it. Maybe that got tightened.

Are you saying there is an adjuster in addition to the ones directly under the handlebars?

On the bottom of the assembly, there is a thumb screw. Some folks use it as a makeshift cruise control when out on the highway. Make sure that didn't get tightened up.

Check your cable routing. You may have to change it. I have a standard RK with Heritage bars, but a friend just put Heritage bars on his RKC and I hope it works because he headed for California 4 days ago.

Heritage bars work best when they are tipped back almost as far as they will go, like wndchsr2 said, check the routing first.

You guys were right. Somehow I got the brake line twisted over the throttle cables during the installation process. Undid that and my problem disappeared. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
