I am having the exact same problem on my 06, but mine is fuel injected and the tack, speedo ect just turn off, after about 10 to 20 seconds I can restart the bike.
mine happens when I slow down on the high way for a left turn and cross the railroad tracks. two trips and twice it has done it in the same spot.
it is in the shop right now, will let you know what they find, but looks like you found your problem.

Yes, it sounds like it could be a Kill Switch Problem. I've had touble with my Kill Switch in the past. I sprayed it good with WD40 and then worked it on/off 10-12 times. I have had no further problem with it on my 03 FLTRI - 65,000 miles.
