I see a 585 EZ start listed but no 585G EZ start. maybe a typo? But yes, they can be installed in accordance wiht your question.... 585's are a high end cam that's best for a lighter bike seeking HP at the upper end.
Anyway,I think you may be happier with the 551 EZ starts or the 583 EZ's in your StreetGlide.
I installed a pair of 551's in the 96" BargeGlide and love them.
Very strong mid range performance to ~4800/4900 rpm then they start running out of puff-- but in 6th gear at 5000rpm I'm running over 100mph anyway so "how fast do you need the torque for"?
I can always easily pull away from a 103" with a Stage 1 kit with these cams.
Can you install S&S 585G Easy start cams on a stock 2010 96" engine?
Im looking for more low wnd and mid range without having to do the whole 107 kit.
If so what are the benefits and are there any cons?
Two weeks ago i added the Thundermax & a set of S&S 583 Easy Start cams to my 2008, 96ci Heritage Softail. It also has a Stage 1 intake with a K&N filter and Vance & Hines slip-ons. It now has 81hp with 95 flbs of torque. After riding it now for a week, i still can't seem to get the smile off my face. This combination really woke up my 96ci motor and gave it the ability to pull 6th gear like it was meant to be able too. I highly recommend doing this and kudo's go to Chris at Pico's garage who is at the top of the Tuner's list in my book.
You want low and mid range torque the SE255 or 256E are good picks for this application. I ran the SE255s in the 96 for quite a while they worked very well.
