I know that Kuryakyn makes some of the highest quality aftermarket parts on the market.
But is it just me or do many of the parts they made look a bit over the top verging on gaudy ?
I like chrome as much as the next guy and in fact I really don't care much at all for the blacked out look so popular today.
But I think that chrome can be overdone, and styled in such as fashion that it detracts from the original look and design of the bike, especially on a Harley. Many of these Kuryakyn parts would look more at home on a Victory instead of a Harley.
Many of them are gaudy. A lot of people would disagree about the "highest quality" part too.
My 2 cents... i love thier stuff. Had many iteams from them with zero problems. Chrome looks better that other aftermarket stuff. Fit and finish seems better than most hd part's for less money. Yes, alot is plastic covered chrome but less weight is better. Alot has quite a bit more style than others which i feel is a bit over the top but its one point that will set it apart from the rest. Maybe its style is ahead of the times? Possible, but im happy wiff it and thats all that matters. Its my bike. Ive got lots of comps on what ive done with my ultra and same as before when i had my metric. You dont like it...i dont care. But most of is the same **** hd sells in different package for more money. Just cause it costs less doesn't make it less quality.
thats just my *******...everyone elses ******* dont bother me.
Some of the cheapest chrome plating on the market. It will peel and buble after two seasons of riding or less. And don't even get me started on their Hyper-charger!!
Agreed! I have their ISO wing highway pegs. They are pitting and my bike never gets wet and is garage kept and I am not near salt air.
I must be the only one in the world that has never had one issue with anything made by Kury - Not one speck of rust! No Issues -
I've liked everything I bought from them and plan to buy more in the future. Never any issues with quality.

I'm with you. Personally I think a lot of it is the name. Kuryakyn: Always questioned that name choice. It just SOUNDS like Asian crap! I was SHOCKED to find out it was not only an American company, but a Wisconsin company. So marketing perception wins. You can find lots of products that are sold in a Kury box and in a Harley box. Funny how the Kury boxed is crap but the Harley boxed is not.

Actually, this IS a big surprise to me. I thought all the jackets were made in China. Mexico is a step in the right direction.

Now, after saying all that. Kury does make some of the most over done crap I've ever seen!!!There are lots of phrases to describe it but none are PC. I guess gaudy is as close as we can come. Can't believe anyone buys a lot of that stuff, but they do. If people didn't like it, then Kury wouldn't make it.
I prefer an understated custom look rather than a 'look at all the cool bling I bought and bolted on' look. Yes, Kury is over the top to me. But, I do have the Iso grips, because their comfortable for me.
I have the ISO grips and just installed the driving lights on my road glide this week before an out of state trip. They look great but time will tell on the chrome finish I guess.
I agree with you , I like the look of chrome with a mix of the motor black and bike paint. Just because you can put chrome on it , doesn't mean you should!
