Default newbie curious about exhaust

I read about Rinehart, V & H, etc on everybody's rides, but nobody has Screaming Eagles? Just curious - is it a quality thing with SE?
I'm looking at changing the stock system on my Ultra Classic and want to get the best bang for the buck, plus living in a retirement village don"t want to **** off the old folks, or give the wife a headache or ringing ears, but want a nice sound at the same time.
All suggestions and input are greatly appreciated!

Screaming eagle mufflers are generally made for S/E by various manufacturers incl. Kerker/Supertrapp.

they may be unique to S/E or virtually "rebranded"- so when someone says "screaming eagle mufflers" there have been 30 or more versions over the years.

S/E also has to be more "responsible" than other brands who may sell "off road/competition use only. not legal for use on street vehicles".

I have used Supertrapp Supermegs on various Harleys for over 20 years.
My 09 has S/E branded Nightstick slip ons mufflers which are modified and tunable just like the Supermegs-- and are very. very similar...and cost me $200 used.

The advantage of the supertrapp disc system is that the pipes are tunable for performance and can be made quiet or loud depending on what the rider wants- takes minutes with a screwdriver to swap discs and end caps.

in your case if you bike is 2010 or newer your header pipe has a catalytic convertor which is a bottleneck to flow and sound, you can go with quite open pipes and not have to worry about being overly loud.

the best thing to do is leave the bike as is for awhile and go to a bike night or dealer BBQ and see what other guys are using and what you like/don't like about their set ups.

it can be a real error to have overly loud pipes if you plan on touring, loud pipes get pretty boring 90 minutes into an 8 hour day in the saddle

Screaming Eagle Nightsticks ( modified disc count)

SE Fatshots, I like them, nice rumble, but not obnoxious, and very tunable for power and sound level. Look and listen before you buy, find what you like that way before spending.

Not sure the year of your bike or how long you've had it but consider putting some miles on it before changing out the exhaust.

Many owners seem to think they need to change the system immediately - then find out a few hundred dollars later that "had to have" system just didn't get it done - hence all the used exhaust systems for sale.

Good luck!

I have to agree with mkguitar, I had the SE nightstick on my bike before i changed. Super Trapp makes it, it has a real nice sound without being to loud, also the quality is great, and the price is reasonable, IMO.

I did change mine shortly after purchase to the SE slip on's. I wanted a rumble but not obnoxious sound either. I like them alot. If you get on the gas it barks but purrs when you are just lumbering along.
I'm not sure if it is much of an improvement over stock...but they are legal and sound good to me.
