Installed the HDPLUS Ipod interface. I could have sworn the cable was long enough to install the Ipod in the saddlebags.. Nope.....i was wrong. Rather then spending anoher 100.00 bucks for a kit, has anyone found another way of extending the Ipod cable that comes with the kit? I was thinking there was possibly another cable on the market that is longer and could possibly work with the HDPLUS. Any ideas would again be appreciated.
Anyone ever come across a longer cable that would connect to the round connection coming of the OTM unit itself? Or is the dock extension cable my only shot? Dam this pisses me off.....I should have read more of the fine print before installing.
yea, I've been there too..... Execpt I bought the Harley iPod kit....... I concidered the extension but in the end I wanted the water sealing connectors of the extension kit. I wish I had bought the saddlebag extension kit (instead of just the cable) that has both the bag lid tether and extension wire with it.
I looked at Iron Cross Audio and am surprised that there's doesn't have sealed connections. But with Harley's price going up on the extension cable at $75 for a cable that will work I think you are doing alright.
I would wrap the connection with a simple 2 to 3 turns for a quality 3M electrical tape and put some dielectric grease in the connector under the tank or more forward depending on how you route the wire.
