had one on an '09 RK and had one put on my '12 e.g. classic...definetely cuts down on updraft behind windshield/fairing. money well spent in my opinion.
these were std through the evo years- when I bought the 09, I took mine off the evo before i sold it.
my riding Pal complained on his 11 Limited, so I put the dish on his.
500 miles later i asked him if he noticed any difference, he said "no, why would I ?" I pointed out the dish...
so maybe, maybe not...
in heavy rain I stretch a bungee across the mirror stalks and hanga rag to catch the spray coming up.
and of course how much updraft is related to how much a low pressure zone we create in the cockpit, I find that using the fairing deflectors to control airflow into the cockpit reduces the random air from below and the sides filling the cockpit

Now that makes sense.
I've got one of the fork mounted deflectors and I am not certain that I noticed an improvement in buffeting.
I noticed an improvement the first couple rides after installing it; but then after I adjusted my expectations to having it, don't notice it anymore. Probably have to remove it again to appreciate the noticeable, but slight, improvement.
As someone stated, they used to come OEM on the bikes -- was just another item HD could sell aftermarket.
It makes it much nicer to puff a cigar while putting around at slower speeds say under 50. In the rain it seems to keep updrafing water from behind windshelid, decreases turbulence ? makes you hear more engine noise as it reflects sound.Seeme to have a pocket of warm air when colder but might be my vivid imagination. All my experience on RK and I will be getting one for my "new" RK as soon as I find a smoking deal.
I got the black one to match the bike for $41 shipped vs. buying the chrome one.
This was my conclusion: I can report there seems to be less buffeting coming up from the tank area. Not major, but a difference. For $40, might as well IMO. Oil temps were fine on a pretty hot day in San Jose. Got home, 207 degrees.
