Upon further review, if you will goggle "trailer hitch extender", your problem will be solved.

Here's a thought why don't you ask a friend to go with you and let him ride the bike back. Instead of taken the risk of putting it in the back of the 150

Default Use a jack like I did!!!

had the same dellima about 4 years ago...had to tow a trailer and haul a bike in a 94 silverado shortbed...what i did was this...and it worked excellent...load the bike into the bed with tailgate on, then use a jack to jack up the bike so that the rear wheel is off the bed and its not touching...jack should be placed towards the backend of the bed and of course under frame of bike...strap the jack down to the points on the bed so that its secure and doesnt move...then strap the bike down while its being supported by the jack...remove tailgate, hook up trailer and go! P.S. Be sure to check your load every 50 miles or so just to make sure all is well. this worked for me towing a car and my bike WITH a rollaway toolbox back there in the bed with it, from Groton CT. to Phenix City, AL...Good luck.

I do have a topic related question- I have never loaded a bike in a pickup. I too have a Silverado with a 6' bed and contemplated loading the bike with a ramp and winch, however, will the tailgate support a 900# bike?

Good luck with your dilemma and be safe.

Can't believe no one has suggested to put the bike in the boat. Problem solved.

Extended hitch I pulled a 3 horse trailer from Cal. to Mo. loaded with household items using a extended hitch becouse the truck had a 10.5' camper in the bed and it worked fine. Or you could barrow rent or trade for a long bed truck but the extended hitch would be cheapest route.

When I had a Ram pickup, I could 'unhinge' the tailgate and let it hang down. That would take the weight off the tailgate while loading the bike.
