I had this problem this past summer on my 06 RG. It started back in May and I couldn't find the problem. Took it to my indy repair guy. He couldn't reproduce the problem and no codes to work off of. I got the bike back and all was fine. I was on trip through Kentucky in July and the bike started missing again to the point I limped it into Maysville on one cylinder. Hauled the bike back home in a U-haul and dropped it off at the indy again. He messed with it for over a month till he found it was a broken wire going to the rear cylinder injector. The insulation was fine but the flexing of the wire from the motor vibration broke the wires inside. A way to check for this is to connect ohm meter then flex the wires. You will probably see it as intermittent fluctuation of the meter.

From a previous thread, the crack in the fuel line was only a problem when the fuel was at a lower level. Is this correct?
Didnt really matter on this particular bike. Customer just suggested a new filter in case he had trash or something and when the tech pulled the assembly thats when he found the problem. The tech that worked on it is a ticky, check everything kinda guy"lucky for the customer". He catches alot of crap from the other guys in the shop but he is the one that usually catches those "little" problems everyone else rushes past.

That would depend on which fuel line the crack was in. If it's in the line going from the fuel pump to the quick disconnect valve on the bottom of the tank, it would be a constant problem because that has to be under pressure. If the break was in the line going from the scavenger filter to the pump, yeah, it would be a problem on lower fuel, depending on where in the line the break was.

I don't know if the original tech would even answer my questions. I can mention to my new tech about the fuel injector wires, but I did ask him if it could be the injector. I think he said that the injector would throw a code if it was going bad. If I was checking with an ohm meter would i have the bike running or just in the ignition on position and not running?

I beleive that the original tech changed all of my fuel filters and pump/parts within the tank because I watched him. Not sure if he checked the actual gas line within the tank for cracks. hmmmm

In the past I had the harness right behind the air cleaner fixed because of wires being stretched. The first time the bike just went into limp mode and threw codes.. the second time the bike seemed to be doing what it is now, but it took several hundred miles before it started running so bad that it started throwing codes. Both times they fixed the harness.

Like I said this time .. the bike was running fine and I had some basic maintnance done including new handle bars. It took 4-6k miles before the bike started missing.. I just figured that it was the same thing as before. Techs said it wasn't it. I swear that the bike just looses power for brief seconds.. just cuts out for little tiny bursts. It always seems to happen more often after you put 50 or more miles on the bike, but occasionally it will miss when cold.

I really like this bike and have a lot invested in it, but if I can't get this fixed I'll probably loose my butt and trade it in for a new roadglide in the spring (satin black looks good to me).

I still welcome more recommendations of what this could be.

Thanks folks for your help, Ralph

Possible intermittent electrical short. A crimped wire when heated up creates additional resistance. Check all wires for chaffs and crimps and wires are secured in the connectors. Did you replace your plug wires?

Ok where to start I to had the same problem on my 06 Ultra. from time to time it would miss a few times but not all the time never coding my Indy was pulling his hair and he is the best in the local area and finding problems 1st thing he tried was removing the pump checking for cracked fuel lines replaced one and road the 230 miles back home with out a problem about 2weeks later I was run 80MPH down the freeway the bike started to miss I pulled over did a restart and all was fine this time it coded (front cylinder not firing) another week no problems. at this time I had been thinking it had something to do with temperature. the following week I road back the 230 miles and stayed over night this time temp outside was in the high 30s when I fired up to go it was fine for about a mile then the miss was back but just off idle I headed for my Indy's home (his shop was closed) I ask him to ride the bike he didn't go far and was back pulling into the home shop Said it was most likely one of the injectors and he had a set down at his shop He said "start it I want to try something" the bike was running just fine till I took it up just off idle again the miss was back he garbed a spray can shot it at my intake the damn bike quit He said "pull the manifold I will be right back with new gaskets"
never had a problem again not saying that is the problem with your but one can never till.
Good luck
