Yaffe bars experience .....not good
Well I ordered a set of 10 Mbb on December 3rd from directcycleparts aka direct harley parts. Bars came in and had defects. Sorry $350 bars better be perfect or close to it. So contacted frank at direct cycle and he contacted yaffe for replacements. I've now been waiting nearly 5 wks on these damn bars with my bike in pieces. Sorry but this is getting ridiculous. It's not my fault the bars don't look right. And on top of that they want me to send my bars back before I get the new ones. Lol that's comical. Sorry just needed to vent a bit about bs I'm going thru with those two companies. I'll give it a bit longer before I contact better business bureau ...... ***** in your court yaffe
I have heard too many complaints about Yaffe's stuff. You are in the majority.
But I do have two questions:
1) Why is your bike in pieces before you have all the parts inspected and ready to install?
FYI: I have a friend who did the same thing with Yaffe bars and he never did get any replacements bars....and he bought directly from Yaffe.
2) I don't understand this statement: "And on top of that they want me to send my bars back before I get the new ones. Lol that's comical."
Why is it comical for you to return a defective part for replacement.

That's like saying if you buy a defective lawnmower from Home Depot they have to give you a new one, you should take it home and try it , then you'll return the old one. Don't think that's going to happen.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I too had a less than perfect experience getting my MBB's. Not sure if I can really blame anyone though. Bought them from a dealer in Florida to get the best price and drop shipping wasn't possible so they had to ship from Yaffe to Florida, and then to me. Which added time but is understandable. Since Yaffe doesn't always have stock (too much demand) these are often made for you which takes manufacturing time. 5 weeks doesn't sound too unreasonable for that. Then I ran the wires and mounted bars b4 taking protective tape, etc. off bars to realize Yaffe doesn't chrome under the grips. Shame on me though for not doing a thorough inspection b4 disassembly and starting my project. Not chroming under grips was a problem for me b/c I have the Battistini swiss cheese grips. Since over 99% of grips totally cover that area I guess it makes sense Yaffe would save the money and not chrome it? 'Course the stock ones are chromed under and for the price of the Yaffe's I would have expected the whole bar to be chromed. So Yaffe was contacted, they hadn't had this happen b4, and they would make me custom bars with the extra chrome. Another 5 weeks though. Luckily, the dealer was cool: They didn't need the bars back b4 I received new ones and they said I could use them while I waited, so they were functional during the wait. Besides the wait time my biggest complaint is that I had to do the wiring all over again. Not only did that suck, but taking wires out of those MBB's was actually harder than running it.
I am curious why your bike is in pieces though?
I haven't heard anything you should be mad at Yaffe about. He needs time to make your bars. Is that unreasonable?
I do think that maybe Harley Direct could have handled it better. Had a second set in stock? Let you hold onto the bars you have while you wait? Even if that means temporarily double charging your credit card. Or using a temporary credit hold for the costs of the bars until they receive the first bars back.

I ordered mine direct from Yaffe, The guy i spoke with on the phone said could be up to 6 weeks. I called after 4 and he said they had just shipped them a couple of days before, got home and they were waiting on my porch. Didnt have any problem with the guys down there and loved the finish and the look!

Regarding why the bike is in parts is bc I'm getting the inner painted also.
I told direct harley that they could charge my card for another set if they had any worries and they said no its fine after talking with frank a few times. I'm not taking the chance of getting stuck with no bars at all. Thats why its comical bc if i sent my bars back 3 wks ago like they wanted im sitting here wondering if i get anything. Yaffe is shipping the bars to direct and then them to me of course If it ever happens.
