Help: High Oil Pressure

OK guys I have a 2013 EGC that is running high oil pressure. The bike has less than 100 miles on it. The pressure is reading about 45 idling when cold and running 50-60 down the highway. My other 103 never ran this kind of pressure. Think its a bad sending unit or something bigger. Thanks for the help.

Seems like your oil gauge or sending unit's not functioning properly...still time for a warranty looksee...

Now that's a first. A harley with high oil pressure? What you describe really isn't that far above the norm for a new bike. You'll know when it drops to normal, the lifters will start ticking!

I have to give a big shout out of praise to my dealership, Bowling Green Harley Davidson. I posted a question on their service appointment request at 9:00pm tonight and got a response from both the service manager and the general manager of the store. Service manager agrees that its probably just a sending unit or bad gauge but wants me to run it in for a test.

My 12 ultra runs about the same it has 1,500 miles on it.

Having a relatively new high volume pump from when I did the cam upgrade, I'm running 45-50 cold, 15-20 at hot idle. Better than the 5 at hot idle I was running. This is measured with an Autometer rocker box gauge. A new engine would run relatively high I would think.

Might want to read Wikipedia's 'Harley-Davidson Twin Cam engine' if you have modified the base idle oil pressure above 11 lbs or so since this is the open pressure limit for the oil injectors at the base of the cylinders. They should not be open at idle rpm levels since it tends to over heat the oil. If you have an oil cooler, engineering may have changed that. What does the owners manual say?
