Yes i know how to bleed brakes, been doin it 25 years BUT, i put new braided extended lines on and cant get the handle to pump up for anything! Tips advice? Is there a trick?
If you open the brake system from the abs module back - meaning at the abs output line or at the caliper - then the brake system can be bled by normal actuation at the pedal, lever, or by suction at the caliper or forced induction at the master cylinder.
If you open the brake system before the abs module - meaning at the abs input line or at the master cylinder and air is introduced into the line - a diaphragm at the abs valve wont seal and as far as it was explained to me, the dealer uses digital technician to cycle the abs valves to purge any air.
At least it's how the took my phucking money - but it solved my problem.
You're likely fighting the air bubble in the line, it's rising about as fast as you're draining fluid out.
The messy but highly effective way to overcome this is to bleed at the handlebar connection.
Squeeze the lever, crack the fitting, listen to the "snap-crackle-pop" of air coming out. Close the fitting and release the lever. Repeat a few more times until the air quits coming out and you're getting fluid.
Not sure if you can do it with abs brakes. But when I had trouble I would put brake fluid in an old style pump oil can and get a small hose and clamp one end to the oil can and one end ro the bleeder, open the bleeder and pump it backwards from the bleeder to the master cylinder works great.
