Hate throttle by wire
Vance and Hines throttle pak is the cheaper answer. Riding buddy says it feels like his cable bike.

Anybody convert from TBW back to cables with a carb? I hate it more and more everyday. I've been riding my 01 RK more and more as a result. Too sensitive on decel. Slightest twist forward and the RPMs drop off drastically. 12K miles on my 12 RK and I can't still cant get comfortable with it. I have no problem giving up the cruise control at this point! I HATE TBW!
Please don't respond with reasons not to convert and how superior FI is to carb!

Its definitely a different feel and roll on and roll off throttle doesn't have the seem direct input like the cable. On the other hand, don't have to deal with fraying and adjustments. Would never give up EFI for a carb on modern bikes.
Uh...he's got 12K on it, something tells me if he was going to get used to it, he'd have gotten used to it by now...
I'd also suggest mapping of some sort - my SG doesn't seem to have any problem with 'throttle' modulation - I can roll off a little or a lot, honestly, I can't tell the difference between TBW and a carb on mine.

I would guess the decel is probably from a restrictive exhaust.
Vance and Hines has a Throttlepak for $150 that plugs into the throttle body and improves the throttle response. Ive heard from a few that have used the throttlepak and they said it eliminated the throttle lag they had on the TBW bikes.

I don't like TBW either. It hesitates when starting from a complete stop. Almost lose the balance of the bike when taking a turn from a complete stop...
I hear the Stage 1 upgrade will get rid of the hesitation. Is this true?
