So what do u guys think are the most critical fasteners to be checked and torqued out of all the critical fasteners. To me. I beleive it is engine and triple clamp bolts. In racing, the triple clamp bolts can be torqued at different specs to make the bike handle different.
the 1K check is more double checking the work of the dealer set up tech...who could be awesome or crap...
I consider all fasteners critical.
read about Guys saddlebag lids falling off etc.. ( my set up was great with thread locker on these)
so basically sit down with a cooler and take the time to go all over the bike double checking fasteners, routing of wiring and any seeps/leaks etc.
there is a well described "fall away" test for the neck bearings- the HD touring triple tree is "backwards" to other brands.
the test spec vary per model, and some require the clutch cable or wiring to be disconnected

The critical fastener list is in the manual. With that said, all sorts of stuff can work loose, and it's worth doing a front-to-back run-through about every 10,000 miles.
There is no way the list that Griffindenim posted is done by the stealer plus oil changes. no way. This is the beauty of doing maint. yourself. Its almost shocking that the Moco sells there service maual to us. lol.
Doing the work yourself is by far more rewarding then letting someone else at the dealer do it and you have to wonder if they did it? Remember you cherish your bike, you pay for your bike. To them it's just another bike.

Had my Road King 1K done recently to the tune of $300+ and took the long way home for about 70 miles. When I got home the heel shift lever fell off.
Guess I'll be doing my own "critical fastener" checks from now on...
