I am looking for some info on the older road glides. My buddy has about 6/7 grand and he is gonna go buy him a older road glide. He is the kinda guy who likes the build and wrench part of bikes and loves my 04 glide. So can i get some opinions and info on what years had which motors and so on. Also i was wondering are the the same bikes from 1997 till 2007 besides motor size?
02 one of the best, last year of forged crank and timken bearings, first year of delphi injection and a bigger axel and swing arm,pre 02 had some swing arm cracking.02-06 most all parts will interchange, think pre99 different seats and muffler hangers and evo motors?plenty out their from 02-06 lots of aftermarket parts as well. friend has a 96 and some parts are costing a few more $ than they should.
the roadglide ( previously know as TourGlide) shares major components with other touring bikes of the same year...the differences being the plastic hanging on them.
for his budget a 98 in the 95th anniversary burgundy might be nice.
Don't get get a FI bike before '01. Stick with a carb against the MM fi. I would go for a twin ca too but the Evos are just as reliable if power doesn't concern ya.
