Ok, first off, would I get better efficiently if I used a cover that exposed the element more than the football cover? Second, do I need to use the KN filter type oil now or not till the next cleaning? I'm in the middle of installing my goodies from fuel moto by the way. Pro billet air cleaner is on, I've stripped all the old exhaust off and have the new 2-1-2 header in place but not bolted up and have the 4.5" pro touring slip ons and power vision waiting their turn....I'm pretty excited!
I can confirm filter is pre-oiled.. you do not need oil until you clean it. As far as air flow the football cover doesn't make any difference.. there's way more than enough airflow.
Cool, thanks, so the cover is just for aesthetics.
AND, in case you get caught in heavy rain.
The cover or a rain sock will keep the oil from getting washed out of the filter...and if it is a heavy enough rain, will also keep water out of the combustion chambers.
