Default RK rear detachables ... same as '13?

Im looking to pickup a passenger backrest, i see they are quite costly for the little bit of need I have. Figured id just pick up a used one, but realized they might not fit.

Any info on this? Will older rear detachables play nice with my 14 king?

I was told by sales guy at dealer when talking trade on my 10 street glide that my detachable sissy bar will fit on the 2014. But the docking hardware will not so I believe the sissy bars will but you need docking hardware for what every year.

I went to Harley web site and looked at the PDF parts catalog and found the hardware for the 14 street glide and also looked up the sissy bar to confirm.

I suggest you might try going to the Harley web site and find the PDF catalog and look it up to confirm on the road kings. good luck!

Thanks you. Im not very handy with this stuff, and my last bike i bought it all accessorized for the most part. So forgive the ignant questions heh

First, I didnt realize I have to buy the sissybar and the pad seperately .. is that usually the case?

also Im looking at this one:
http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...-01-5424709--1

Under fitment it shows 2014 FLHR and also 2013, 2012, 2011, etc

Does that mean that I can find someones used detachable backrest on ebay, and shouldnt have any issues with fitment?

Thanks again .. sorry for being so green with all of this.

Ok as im reading through this stuff, i see what you mean now.

So the actual sissybar might be the same, but the docking hardware is what might be different.

So really i may just need to buy the docking hardware from HD, and then go on a ebay hunt for any prev years detachable stuff.

yes?

I was told same by dealer today. The docking hardware mounting is different on the '14, but the backrest that fits '09 - '13 will fit the '14 docking hardware.

If you want the new bags you have to change out mounting hardware...

Yes, the backrest pads are a separate purchase from the sissybar.
This is so you can choose the style of pad you want.

Yes, the parts & accessories catalog shows the same part number for the '09 - '14 sissy bar.

As mentioned, the actual docking hardware is different though.
Of course it would have the same sissy bar mounting points, but how it mounts to the bike is different.

I have the sissy bar from my 09 Road Glide now living on my 14 Road King. So the 09+ bars fit the 14's, but stated above, the docking hardware is different so you will need 14 specific docking hardware.
