Winding noise in 5th gear
Never head this issue til I went with a heavy breather, screamin eagle race tuner and 2-1 D & D fat cats with the perforated baffles. Every other gear sounds good and if I shift into 6th at 50 mph winding goes away and it has a nice deep rumble. Had it on the dyno and use synthetic oil. Does seem to be getting somewhat quieter as the summer goes on. Any one else experience this?

the gears are cut differently.
5th is a straight cut gear and as such is stronger than 4th or 6th.
they tried a helical cut 5 th gear for 2010 models and went back for 2011 +
it just 'sounds different'

Oh lord, yes- I missed that.
6th is good above 65 MPH on level road with no headwind.
6th at 50 MPH will damage your motor..it's only 1900 rpms.
