Default HD forum discount?

So I order a new windshield for the Ultra Classic. Lots of vendors to choose from. Final weak decision came from the vendor advertising here with the 10% discount for HD forum members. I thought why not support the vendors here.

There is no coupon code but instructions from the vendor to leave a note with your handle here and request the discount. I comply yesterday and place the order.

Today I get three emails stating the order is placed. Checked my CC and the full amount, is charged, no discount. Third email states that I need to call the vendor to request the discount.

Time is valuable to me during the business day and I do not need games. I complied with what the vendor dictated in their post here for the discount, yet now I have to call the vendor? What for?

Am I off base with being upset? I am more upset that they charge the full amount to the credit card and after the fact tell me I need to call. To me that is not the contract that I agreed to.

Long short, I told the vendor to cancel the order. I am not playing games.

Thanks all.
Probably be more of a hassle to get the order canceled then to give the guy a call. Principle comes to mind here. Most likely I see me having to call the credit card to have it reversed.

Saw a few negative reviews regarding customer service that made me leery. Now I am there.

I will stand my ground though. Why advertise one thing on this website yet change the rules afterwards.

For the life of me I cannot imagine what difference a call would make? Something stinks sour and I think it is customer service.

Just wish the admins of this site would police such vendors.

Yes, understand time is of the essence, but sometimes you need to put the shoe on your other foot and look fm vendor's perspective. They're processing more orders than your one and sometimes small details are missed. I had a similar incident recently and called the vendor who gladly applied the discount by crediting my card on the spot. Only took ~3-minutes and I received a discount code for future order so it was a win-win.

I'm an old-school guy and sometimes just a simple call is all it takes...gotta have patience too.

I don't play games either.

I'll pay full price at another vendor, loose one-two days for processing, and wait longer to get the same-ish part elsewhere just to show them I mean business and I'm not someone to mess with! That will teach them.

Honestly though, sometimes its worth the hassle but sometimes it's not. Your call and I understand fully.

I commend you for not mentioning the name or trashing the vendor here on the forum. With that being said, I think I'd have contacted this site's administrators. Maybe they could contact the vendor to avoid future order problems.

I would have given the vendor one more chance. As a former small business owner, I know it hurts to lose business, especially these days.
Hopefully, he will improve the process to eliminate similar problems.
