I'm planning to sell my 04 Ultra Classic and replace it with a 14 Limited. I looked at The Limited's this weekend and plan to check with several dealers for best pricing before I'm done. I would appreciate your thoughts on the 14 Limited.
I went from a 12 Limited to a 14 Limited. The 14 handles much better then even my 12. It will be a really big improvement over an 04. My 14 has no top end noise. It has more power stock then my stage 1 12 had. Your 04 probably doesn't have the heat issues my 12 had. My wife had to drape her legs over the sides of the saddle bags to get them away from the heat on 70mph long distance runs with temps over 90. She feels some warmth on the 14 but not hot like my 12. My wife said the new tour pack backrest is much more comfortable then what my 12 had. The ability to open the saddle bags with one hand while sitting on the bike is a really nice improvement. There have been some issues with the 14's. They had problems with them pucking out all the coolant on shut down. Thats been fixed with a product program to replace the filler necks. There was a safety recall to repair the hydraulic clutch. The have a lot of them leaking at the thermistat housing. Mine was replaced 3 times in 2 months & 1,160 miles. They still don't have a perminate fix for that issue. Some people have had issues with the infotainment system popping and crackling when listening to the radio and screen freeze ups. I haven't had the issues with mine. I'm 6' tall. the stock 10" windshield wasn't tall enough for me. I would get buffeting at speeds above 60 even with the vent open. My wife said her head was getting whipped around on the highway. I replaced the stock windshield with an 11" LRS Ultra windshield and it eliminated the buffeting on my head and my wife's head getting whipped around. Even with the issues they have had I would definitely buy it if I had it to do over again. If you want one now is the time to do it. I'm sure when spring gets here the dealers wont be able to keep them in stock and the prices will go back up over MSRP.

Mine's getting delivered tomorrow finally. My dealer has sold 8 in the past 2 weeks. They haven't been able to keep any in stock!
I bought a '14 Limited Twin Cooled water head brand new August 23,2013 from Cowboy HD in Austin. Traded in my root beer '11 Limited which had ton of accessories, 23,000 miles and ran great. When I saw that black '14 and started checking out all the "stuff" I had to make it mine! 7,500 miles and NO trouble. Spent a blistering day in stop & go traffic on I-40 trying to get to Memphis. Cooling fans cycled on & off, EITMS dropped the rear cylinder out at idle just like it's supposed to do. Bike just ran great in the heat...no trouble. I've had the clutch recall done but not a single problem with the bike. Just do it and feel good about it!!!
I bought mine a couple of weeks ago and love it. Had a 2007 Street Bob that I traded. If you have a good dealer you should be able to get 2-3k off of MSRP. If you don't have one in GA call Gary in internet sales at Seminole Harley in Sanford and tell him Scott in Cocoa Beach sent you. I am sure he will hook you up. I had a great experience there. My dad and I got matching Limiteds in Daytona Blue. Look at all the colors in the sun before you pick one. As others stated a few minor issues but nothing that I am very worried about. Love the bike and being in FL I like that I don't have to hold my leg out to the side just to keep from getting burned in stop and go traffic.
I came off a 2012 CVO Ultra and I'm going to tell you it was night and day when it came to the handling. Don't get me wrong the CVO was nice but from a stability standpoint the Limited beat it hands down. I also liked the fact of the linked brake system being a new feature. I had to use it once and along with the ABS works great. I haven't had the leak issue or the clutch plate issue even though I took it in for the recalls as required. The new radio takes a little getting use to but its not as bad as some make it seem. Just a little patience is all it takes and READING the manual goes a long way. HD is still working out some of the minor issue with software updates. But outside of that I think its a great bike and HD is starting to listen to the majority on what was needed/wanted.
I went from an 01 FLHT. Went on a 10 km test drive, couldn't believe the changes.. I bought mine in November, she is sitting waiting for spring.. Take one for a test ride , you will see....
