I used a paperclip. There is a special tool but the paperclip works fine. Make sure you take pictures and/or draw a diagram b4 pulling any wires. You want to make sure you get them all back where they belong.

Not entirely sure. It revs all by itself too much. Usually when I start it up and am turning the bars from far left. Only twice has it actually affected rideability. I think that somehow the TBW wires in the bars are touching themselves once in a while.

PYO does not chrome under the grips and my Battistini's show the handlebar. Because I kept protective covers over much of the handlebars during install I didn't realize this till it was too late. I had to have Yaffe make me special fully chromed bars and then swap them out. Getting the wiring OUT of the bars is much harder than getting the wiring into the bars believe it or not. I think I left some wiring exposed w/o realizing it.

Like Dew Me said...take pics and draw diagrams of your plugs before you disassemble them. As far as that little bastard green plug goes the way I see it you have 2 choices...cut it out and solder and heat shrink wires back together or purchase the SE TBW from the dealer. Thousands have tried to feed the green plug back through the bars but only a hand full have succeeded

Have you done your due diligence in searching this forum for help? Or just asked a question hoping to be fed? There are many threads on here telling you exactly how to do this job. By the time I was done searching what was already here I felt very comfortable with the job instead of feeling "over my head".

Here is one thread that is very long but has A LOT of good info:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...s-install.html

Also, here is a copy of Yaffe's instructions: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/46294984/aB...ips%5B1%5D.pdf

Dew Me I get the feeling he hasn't fully prepared himself for this job either.

to get the TBW harness out of old bars you have to push wires thru plug with paper clip?
No. Just pull the bar end of the sensor out a little and you will see the little green connector. Unplug it and remove the sensor.

yea...I thought I was prepared....searched every bar install thread I could find on here...looked at everything I could find on Google....PM'd back and forth with 3 different guys on here that installed these same bars themselves...waited till I was confident . But when your doing something for the first time I guess your never really prepared...was a couple tools I didn't have that I didn't know I needed....and I've never taken any kind of electrical terminals apart ever in my life. everybody just told me to go for it...wouldn't be any big deal....because they had the experience of doing it already...lol right now I'm trying to get the plug off the bottom of the TBW harness to get the harness out of old bars....guy told me the white thing inside the plug pulls up then I can push the wires through the connector and pull wires out of bar. that appears to be same method guys did on that LA Choppers install video on youtube....but they don't show the whole procedure...just see the guy poking the wires out of the connector. I've been putting this project off for almost 2 years and thought I could just do it and have it done in time to leave for Daytona....now I'm stressing out....I know I'm capable of doing the job but the "little" things I don't know are unfortunately of great importance

Go to comment #768 in the thread I linked. It is page 77 for me but page numbers can be different depending on your settings. Comment 768 has a link to the Yaffe directions. I just tried it and it still works.

The connectors you'll be dealing with a Molex MX 150 (left/right controls & TBW). You'll be taking the pin sides apart to get the wires through the bars. Note: These pictures are for my '13. They should be *similar to yours. YMMV

See this image:

Bottom image A-48 is what you're dealing with (or something like it). You have to lift up on the secondary lock with pliers as shown. Next to each pin is a hole. Sticking a paperclip in the hole will release the pin from the lock. While pushing in with the paper clip, pull the wire out the back side. Do this for each. When assembling, push the pins into the connector from the back side. Note that they only go in ONE WAY. Once they are all in, push down on that secondary lock mechanism until it clicks. That's it.

Take very close up pictures before hand or draw it out on paper. If you put the wires back wrong, you'll be really unhappy.

Do you have a factory service manual??

This is an example of the pics I take before doing these wire jobs:

Left side bar controls
