Since I commute, most of my riding is solo. For recreational rides, its mixed solo, 2-up with wife, or in small groups of 3-4 bikes total. Like it with just one other bike...keeps it safer to have someone else around if something goes down, nice to share the ride with others, and keeps the variables down.
My wife and I ride together. Her as a passenger. We prefer to ride by ourselves. Once in awhile in a group. But just don't feel it's as safe. Always watching the guy that's ahead of you and wondering if the guy behind is paying attention.
I ride alone or with one friend that knows how I ride.

Hey Brother, hope you are well and working regularly. Seasonal slowdown here in NY, all weather related and expecting things to pick up soon, all the best!
I would rather ride with friends but I know going in we wont be leaving anywhere near the time we said and will be stopping several times cause someone needs gas or to use the bathroom. I do ride alone with my girlfriend about 90 percent of the time though.
my ideal size for a ride is one...two if the wife wants to hop on the back--for a day trip. if i am going to be on the road for any length of time, i will be riding alone.
I like riding alone sometimes. Other times with just a few select friends whose riding styles I am familiar with. Do not like big group rides and avoid organized parade style rides completely.
I concur as have others. When headed out for several weeks (ie to Sturgis) traveling with a friend is good.
Years ago I did a ride for the troops rides and a charity poker run...not again. While both were great causes, I will show my support in other ways. They ride for the troops was the most cliquish riding crowd event I have attended. It just was not any fun for a free hot dog and tee shirt. The Charity Poker turned into 1/2 the riders chugging beers at every bar stop and showing it on the road all for the chance to win a bobble head doll.

Always prefer solo, just my preference. I like to go and stop when and where without a "plan". I've gone out of the house at times for a quick hour ride and next thing I knew, I was two states away. I enjoy exploring roads and areas and for me, I like having no schedule or pre-planned itinerary. To each their own, it's all good.
I do both and I enjoy both equally. To me it's about the roads traveled. Best ride is being on a road you have no idea where it ends up and just going until you find you way back home.
