All this is true but it's the crank position sensor thats retained. '02 - on dropped the cam sensor when HD went to Delphi EFI. Changing the EFI tank over isn't that big of a problem. Just remove all of the EFI pumping, leave the bracket that holds the fuel pump assy in, leave the fuel gauge sender stuff alone, and wiretie the wires left from the fuel pump to the bracket. The wires are not connected to anything if you use the -00 harness.
