Default Snapped another p139 polychain

Guys, what the hell am I doing wrong?
2011 Road Glide, FM 107, 10.5:1, zippers 577cams, FM "B"heads. Bike has the Burly slammer kit in it (Maybe changing the geometry too much?)
I love this gearing (30T tranny output), but changing a belt every 2000miles is retarded. I am constantly checking my tension (with the proper tool), there is no discerning wear on either sprocket.....I'm seriously thinking of going to a chain.
I do drive the bike harder than most...alot of burn outs, and hard launches. I know gates are the best belts out there, and a lot of guys have a lot bigger builds than mine. I just have never had this kind of trouble with belts, since I've changed out the tranny sprocket. I have had similar builds without the sprocket change, and I've driven the bikes just as hard...if not harder than this RG,and have never had these issues with stock belts
What's the answer.....I'm effin stumped!!!

The radius is a lot smaller with the 30t pulley. These belts do not like a tight radius. I do maintenance on machines that are full of these belts 40 plus hours a week and see it all the time. They don't like a lot of jerking and you don't want them to tight or you will be killing bearings and shafts. But I would say in you case it is the tighter radius on the front pulley causing your issue.

They run the same pulley on the tri-glide with no issues.
Am I misunderstanding you?

Thanks, D

What brand belt are you running? There are several threads on here that discuss the performance of different brands of belt after the 30t mod. I would do a search and see what they are finding holds up and what doesn't. You are not the first one to have this problem and there are lots of members that have done this with success.

Have you ever seen a trike in a burnout pit? Sounds like your riding style is a contributor to your problems. I'm just saying this based on what you confessed in your original post.

i don't know what year bike you have but i know harley makes a sidecar belt for the dressers that is heavy duty. i have several friends that run them. i think they make them for earlier bikes up until maybe 06 or 08 not really sure.

The biggest cause of really premature belt failure like you're having is improper installation techniques.
If the installer kinks the belt a little too tightly (it happens a lot) it will fail in a couple of thousand miles, if not sooner.

I don't think for one second that the smaller front pulley is causing this, There are far too many of these pulleys out there running every day with no problem to consider that.

Who is installing these belts for you?
Are they handling the belts correctly?
Are they storing the belts in a way that they won't be damaged?

Finally....If you beat your bike, things will break, it's a sure bet!
I ride pretty hard most of the time and the price of the aggressive riding style is that I spend more time on maintenance than Paw-Paw does on his Geezer-Glide puttin' around at 1100 RPM @ 50 mph.

Burnouts and jack rabbit starts are very tough on the entire drivetrain...I have stretched primary chains and blown clutch hubs apart with some of my antics, not to mention the internal stresses on the gear box.

This might just be part of the price you pay for your good time.

...and you're asking us? You answered your own question. Start riding with some restraint and respect for the equipment and you won't break things... that's just common sense...sheesh!

I can't remember te exact part number , but the gates poly belt from bdl was the belt suggested.
You can mod your swingarm and use the oem belt also which is what I did.

Hmm. I'd put on a chain with that track record.
