Default tc-88 timing question

I have an 2000 FLHTCUI that I just installed the SE Cam Support plate in with new stock cams and bearings. I have aligned all the marks on the cams per the instructions then on the Primary Cam Sprocket and the Crank Sprocket. I put it all together and fire it up and it is not running correctly at all. I can see fire though the intake and it is popping and I am getting air pushing out of the intake. I pull it apart and verify that all marks line up and they do. So what else am I missing here?

Did you use adjustable pushrods or did you put the originals back? If the cams are timed right there isn't a lot left except possibly misadjusted push rods... But I could be wrong too!

I put the originals back and I was just checking that and find that the intake does not get loose when I have the front at Base Circle. I was careful to make sure I put the rods back in the correct locations but I'm going to swap them to see it that makes any difference.

I'm starting to think I should have paid the money for adjustable rods instead but I'm already over a grand into this

Hate to say but sounds like you have your answer with the popin out the intake. Maybe get another to go thru it step by step. Sometimes when I make a mistake I don't see it when checking, another set of eyes could help!

The longer pushrods are for the exhaust, the shorter are for the intake.

It was the front push rods! I managed to get them in the wrong holes. Got them in right and it fired up so smooth! It purrs now! I'm happy Now to take it and give it a good washing and get it all put back together.
