I am still looking for some type of police saddlebag inserts that are NOT the Owens Options style. Nothing agains Owens but I am looking for something different. Any ideas. For all of you non-police bike riders, the police style saddlebags dont have the same locking/latching mechanism as the traditional style HD hard bags. Actually they are more functional than the regulars, but where you have the latch, we have a BIG open space that needs a bit of bling to complete the look. See my pic of my bag...you will see what I mean, different but better (at least we think so). When is the last time you non-police riders opend your saddlebag while sitting in the seat with the bike going down the highway? HMMMM! Didn't think so!!!
Yes I got a pair on ebay I have the second set they made and the only set on a bike. Easy to install and the matching upper piece is a nice touch for 35 more dollars. I will include a link I let them use my bike in there ad too. If you click on the lower right hand side of pics you can make them larger to see the inserts better.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...;rd=1&rd=1
I don't have a pic yet (I am waiting for my wheels to get in and mounted to do a before and after), but I bought a set of "Hydraglide" emblems from V-Twin and put them in that little space. It doesn't cover it all up, but not many people have done it either.Cost about $40.00.
A vendor on Ebay was selling die cut inserts similar to the "Police" inserts in a variety of designs, including the HD Bar and Shield for under $25. I usually ran across them doing a search on Ebay Motors using "Harley Police" as the search term, including item description. HTH.
If I find some time this evening I will give ebay a try for you.
I laid these out on my computer and took it to a sign shop who made them in two layer a black background with the letters cut out and a clear top layer. I laid down a white reflective tape layer first then the black/clear so the words glow in the dark. I was charged $16 for two complete sets.
