Thanks all for the feedback on the CAT heat thing. I kinda know, come some warm day I am going to get out a drill and just drill the darn CAT out...
Do I really have to take the header off? I thought I read someone who didnt... ahh... guess its best to do so.
Drilling it out wont get it all out. Its made of a soft metal material not a old brick style. I thought i could drive a rod thru it and break it out no suck luck. I cant see how a drill will remove it all either. I cut mine in half with a offset cut into the center so I could easily re-clock it back to factory clock and then had it tig welded at work. You cant even tell i opened it up unless i point it out. Way less heat and runs fine. No cross talk that i can feel in the seat of the pants dyno either.
Hi,
Just curious if you did this modification? using a divider plate producing Good numbers. Basically, creating a H pipe in last 2 inches of the cat chamber. If so what was the outcome?
I brought mine into work and cut it open, chiseled everything out. Then I found a set of Screamin Eagle slip on's on Craigslist. Did the Stage 1 Filter and download. I'm very happy. My neighbors on the other hand are not. Leaving at 3am, well lets just say I try to be quite.
It's almost to loud for me, I'm thinking whenever I work with PTSD Veterans I'm gonna have to run the stock slip-on's
Is anyone running the stock mufflers with the de-catted head pipe and how's it sound.
I'm looking for something a little more than stock.
And do you need a tuner?
I have the stock air cleaner, Screaming Eagle Street Cannons and factory tune.
on a 2014 limited.
If I decat my OE pipe do I need to have a stage 1 tune installed
Thanks

No you don't have to do a stage 1 download unless you change the AC also.

Funny I have the streetcannons also and I just put on the fuel moto jackpot 2 into 1 into 2 head pipe on, and all I have to say is I like it a lot , I can cruise down the highway and it is not that louud , but when I crack the throttle it gets loud. BUT you have to get rid of the cat no matter how you do it I never knew till I did it , But much much cooler , and of course more power.

No to the tuner and it gets a lil deeper in tone. Enough for some not enough for others.
When I decatted my OEM, I also added a 7" x 1 3/4 piece of pipe inside the chamber. The sound was much improved, but the heat was still there until I had it tuned. Runs and sound great now.
