My mistake on the nav database. It looks as if the most recent version is from the end of 2012 (which isn't very impressive, but so it goes). So there's no more current version out yet than what ships with the 'bike.
Still, I'm not super-impressed with the $150 required for updates....
Does anyone know if the $150.00 is a lifetime update. My Garmin had a onetime lifetime update fee.
#3 is a nav set up. If you dont like "heading up" go in and change your nav settings to 2d map, and right below that change your heading to "north up."
There are several software bugs in the Nav system:
Before the "update" to 17.1.1 I could toggle between "travel up" & "north up"; now it's locked in "travel up" mode.
The "north pointer icon" in "travel up" mode has a screwy algorithm that forces the north pointer to point right when traveling East & point left when traveling West (in both cases, it's actually pointing South). This was the case both before & after the 17.1.1 update.
Before the "update" to 17.1.1 I could receive & the system would read verbally my phone's text messages; since the update, it will not recognize any text messages, old or new.
The problem you have with your sena headset is because the bluetooth headset is a reciever made for devices to pair with. Phones and such are more like bluetooth transmitters. It all has to do with what device initiates the pairing process.
The infotainment system begins the pairing process just like the headset so that is why they will not pair. I believe whoever told you the cb kept it from working was making up a complete fabricated story. The 2 technologies have nothing to do with each other.
Any ideas on what the best BT headset would be for the iPhone 5 and the boom audio?
Boom audio? '14s Infotainment systems do NOT work with bluetooth headsets. PERIOD!!!
I didn't think any headsets would work either, but I seem to remember someone posting a mod or way to make it work. Hmmm, I'll see if I can find the post....
Hi there
For those of you who have problems with auto volume control, I had the same problem and found out how to get it working. If you turn the ignition on and start the bike, it won't work. You have to let the system boot. Turn it on, let the logo screen disappear (app. 10 sec), then crank her up.
What I do now is turn it on, put the helmet and gloves on then start the bike. Loud enough for me cruising at 70mph.
As for the music stopping when the gps talks or the phone rings, that's the idea behind an integrated system. Mine works flawlessly and the sound comes out so clear from the speakers when you use the gps, you don't even have to look at it.
