For me it's all about reducing distortion any way I can and most of us who mess with this stuff everyday knows you are less likely to get distortion out of the pre-amp low level signal vs. The high level input signal. Basically noise reduction in the system. If you don't have any distortion or noise in your system the high level inputs are fine. I'm a firm believer in doing everything I can to eliminate it.
