Default Connecting Infinity Kappas?

Hi All,

I've tried searching the forum but haven't really been able to find what I'm looking for. I'll be installing the Inifnity Kappa 62.11i 6.5s in my 2016 SGS fairing this weekend and want to make sure I have everything I need prior to starting the project. I'm not looking to add an Amp at this time and it seems like everyone recommends these speakers as a decent upgrade from stock speakers. Thanks to everyone on the forums I already know I need a swivel socket or something like that to remove the difficult mounting bolts on the speaker pods. It also sounds like I'll need to do the speaker pod mod to install the speakers inside the pods to provide enough clearance for the stock speaker grills. My biggest questions is how do the speakers actually connect to the stock speaker wire harness. It looks like when you remove the stock speakers the wires have spade connectors? But there's no way to connect it to the kappas. Do I need to buy an additional adapter or make something myself? Sorry for the long post, I'm don't have a lot of experience with installing speakers. Thanks in advance for the help!!

mark your wires to identify pos and neg, snip off the factory spade connectors, strip about 1/2 inch inulation from wires, tin the ends using a solder iron and solder. slide ends into kappa lugs and snug them down

yeah, that^^^^

You're gonna want an amp with those speakers. Those things LOVE POWER. Not sure you'll be happy with them without the amp.

Just sayin'

Another option is using a short length of 16g wire and crimp a connector onto one end that matches the stock connector. Strip the other end to the correct length for the Kappa speakers and tin it with solder. This will keep the stock harness intact.

I figured I'd at least give it a shot and see how it sounds. If and when I end up going with an Amp I'll probably go with a full BT or RF system. This is just a cheaper option at this time. Plus it gives me a fun project to work on this weekend. I could think of a few other ways to spend $800 plus on the bike right now. I'm sure I'll end up going that route sooner or later just like many others on this forum!

Thank you! I'll give this route a shot just in case I want/need to swap the stock speakers back in. Just curious, is it possible to get away without soldering the end of the speaker wire that feeds into the Kappas? I'm guessing it won't have a solid connection without the tinning.

Tinning is not required but recommended.

Before u go full BT or full RF, make sure u tee up that discussion on this forum before u do so. Max bang for the buck discussion and really no different install as u will be able to remain plug and play regardless.
