1 ohm speakers...damage amp?

I came across a set of 2011 Streetglide 1 ohm speakers. I installed them on my 2003 EGC with a RF 300x2 amp. I used the 1 ohm speakers for several weeks until my Polk Audio 525s came in. I installed the Polks and they sound great...my concern is, audio seems to fade in and out at lower RPMs. I can't turn off the AVC feature, does that have anything to do with audio fading in and out or, did using the 1 ohm speakers damage the amp? Thanks in advance.

why can't you turn off the AVC and yes that's most likely the culprit.

Is the amp rated to run with 1 Ohm speakers? If not it will eventually burn up the amp....Some amps can handle others can't...

no that amp is not rated below 2 ohms and absolutely it will eventually tear up the amp but it sounds like the amp is fine and the AVC is the issue.

When you drop below rated ohms you can burn out the output transistors. When they go, they are like a fuse or a light bulb. They either work or they don't.

I guess I just don't know how. I've read where someone posted how to turn AVC off on later models. I haven't found out how to disable the AVC on a 2003...if that could be the problem, can anyone help me disable it?

do you have an owners manual? I can't remember on these older radios how to adjust the AVC. It tells you in the manual.

If you don't have an owners manual, you can look at one online by going to the Harley Website.
