I would think that you would want the pods to leak air to allow for the displacement of the speaker diaphragm, this air would not only leak out but leak in as well, otherwise you will offer resistance to the speakers diaphragm's movement decreasing the speakers ability to produce sound, especially on the low and mid range frequencies. I would add some acoustic poly fill and let em leak, just my 2 cents.

i would say that should depend more on what speaker is used than anything and also depending on the actual sealed enclosure volume in cu ft.

Agreed, I am sure that one could do a bit of listening of the speaker mounted in the pod (bench testing) prior to mounting the pod in faring to evaluate befor final assembly, put speaker in pod seal and listen, remove speaker add a couple ounces of poly fill replace speaker listen again. sort of a subjective bench test.

They kinda leak a little around the seam the wire hole needs to be sealed also. I was also mortified by the sound quality when I first tested. Low volume had noticeable distortion. Not taking to dealership til next month for flash/warranty work. Where do I find the rear speaker connection. Is there a wire near seat or fairing

I promise I'm not trying to stir the pot....but I gotta ask.

Harley comes out with the Stage 2 booms that fit my RGS. It has a woofer tweeter and mid-range in a 6.5 speaker. It also uses the 2 channels of the HD 4 channel amp to power the base and the other two for the less power needy mid-range and tweeter.

When you factor in the price point of the fully wired amp from Kutter and the speakers from New Castle (the speakers don't show up on the Kutter website yet.) it's a pretty competitive solution that on the surface looks like it should be a good sounding system.

Anybody go down this road yet?

I have a thread in the Rushmore forum regarding the Stage II system. So far, everyone who has heard it said it sounds awesome. My bike is at the shop getting the system installed now. I took a big gamble and purchased the system without hearing it first. I'll post my thoughts when I get my bike back.

Actually my '15 CVOSG has it installed from factory, HD's introduction of the Boom ll system. I will say it is an amazing difference from the stock system that was on my '14 SG. I had removed that and installed a system built of Focal KRC 165 and a Arc Audio mini and it was amazing. The New Boom ll is truly very competitive with what I had in my '14. It is expensive but its going to fit/work/sound amazing

Hope that helps
