Thanks for the input. I was leaning towards the Polk MM65s because they appear to have better low end than the Infinity but I hadn't heard about the tweeter issue. Thanks again for all of the information you have been sharing.

Anybody use these new 6x9 Rushmore lids from Yaffe. Curious how they look in person. I just saw them on their site, their '15 catalog has a pic.
I do like the look of OEM lids the best plus speakers seem to point more directly to rider rather than face up.
With that said anybody wanna chime in on the difference between 6x9 or 5x7 in the lids? Is it night & day difference?
I have the RF300x2 with Infiniti Kappas 62.11 in the fairing thanks to UN. I was happy with this & was sufficient with my Rineharts, not so with Sinister side exhaust above 3k rpm's.
I gotta figure out best way to pack more punch and lowers with speakers isn't an option with my chin spoiler & air cleaner. I know that would do the job but...
Will lid speakers make much difference for rider?
I'm on the fence with either OEM lids with HAT's 5x7 and another RF300x2, waiting for Hogtunes 6x9 lids or these Yaffe Lids with 6x9's.
Also which 6x9's?

If you are thinking about the Polk MM651's be aware they have had issues with the tweeter stalks becoming unglued. The Infinity Kappa 62.11i are a great speaker for your amp.
Thanks, I took the advice and ordered a pair of the Kappa 62.11i. They are getting hard to find but I managed to find a pair for less than $100. Any modifications needed to get them to fit? I already have the Boom grilles.

You have the grills so you are good to go! Enjoy!

I am planning on running the ground and power wires together in the wiring tray under the tank. Are there any noise or interference issues that anyone is aware of with running the wires through the main wiring tray? I am concerned with the wires chaffing over time if I run them on the outside of the tray.

I found my answer, it made sense to run the wires through the tray but the CAN BUS wiring had me concerned about interference.

When I returned for the flash, my head unit was already at amp 1 and 2 off, 4 speakers. I could not turn up the gain on my amp without terrible distortion. It got really loud really quick.

I am by no means an expert, but they let me go back and play a bit. On my bike without touching the amp it was clearly much louder in the amp off settings than it was in the amp on setting. In the amp off setting I had very little adjustment in volume before extreme distortion. In the amp on setting I could get to about 75% without extreme distortion. Both settings turned on the ARC KS 125.4 amp with auto on sensing.

I probably screwed up, but I left it in amp1 and amp2 on. I just finished tuning the amp after getting back home and I am pretty happy. I did set both front and rear to HP and adjusted the front to about 90Hz and the rear to about 110 Hz. The setup with the ports to the tour pack really pumps up the bass. Too much for me in fact. I installed Kappas inside the fairing pods and to the tour pack pods as well.

I am able to get the gains up around 50 to 60% now. In the amps off settings I could not turn the gains up at all without distortion at mid volumes.

Like I said, I probably screwed up, but it sounds pretty ok right now.

Default Audio Upgrade List

Hi All - Just about completed reading all the over 115+ postings, & just want to do a quick sanity check on my proposed audio system upgrade...and pardon if this same question has been ask a million times but finally made a decision...it was between a Boom Stage II or RF PBR300X2 as I am only doing the front fairing speakers but leaving room to do the tourpack speakers upgrade at a not too distant future date & so I went for the PBR300X2 as follows:

1. AMP: PBR300X2 - $158.55

2. Speakers: Infinity Kappa 62.11i - $159.95

3. Mount: PBR300 Mounting plate - $32.00

4. Power Wires RFK10 10AWG wiring kit - 28.98

5. Left Grill: Boom audio grill - $36.00

5. Right Grill: Boom right audio grill - $36.00

About $452.00 to be purchased at Amazon except the Boon Grill at Kutter Online. The delta between the Boom Stage II & this setup was about $300 and with Boom Stage I, at $370.

I am still undecided about the flashing my stock Boom head unit, as there are many pros & cons about using magic box or not. However if I do a radio flash, I believe the setup is:

AMP 1 Installed = YES, AMP 2 Installed = NO, and 8 speakers.

My question is, is there any thing else that I am missing?

thanks
Dan

I thought it was supposed to be flashed for NO AMPS and 8 Speakers? This would take the DSP out of the loop and give you fader control. Or is what I remember one of the other MANY "correct ways" of doing things. I'm so confused.
