Default Acrylic polish question???

Does acrylic polish, like Crystal Glow, build up? If it does is that something I should avoid? Should it be used every time I wax the bike or should I use it once in a while and another type of wax in between?

Crystal Glo is an all-in-one type product. Since it has cleaners (polish) applying a second layer would remove the first.

I don't know about other acrylic polishes, but I use crystal glow and it's a first class product. I don't think you can categorize all products based just on their marketing. From what the label says and from my experience, it gets better results from layering, so to me it works. I use it instead of wax.

AT their website Crystal Glo says:
"Safely removes oxidation and rejuvenates color richness of faded surfaces. Smoothes away tarnish, chalking and accumulated wax."

This is not a put down on Crystal Glo or their marketing. The quoted statement is what is refered to as "paint cleaners". Numerous quality products out there do this. But...if it removes, it removes.

The best bet if you feel you need more protection is to add a layer of quality wax on top of your Crystal Glo after it cures.

I understand what you’re saying 3Dog, and if you put it that way it makes sense. But I’m just saying out of my experience and even from what it says on the bottle…I’m trying to remember because I don’t have one with me, but it’s something like “Regular use builds protection and produces a wetter shine.” Something like that. Anyway, I had an experience of my own in the past when a patio umbrella in my garage accidentally tipped over and dinged the side of my Fat Boy leaving an inch size surface scratch…ouch. After I applied a few coats of the crystal glo on it, it was completely gone and the paint was glossier then ever. That’s without abrasives, and I know it’s not a cover up because it still looks the same after washing. I’m not a chemist but I do have some experience in the detailing field (my father used to own a dealership and I was the maintenance junkie) and I’m sure it’s possible to have a product that removes oxidation, surface contaminants, etc. while adding protection, like a wax. Because those impurities are on the surface, once they are removed the product would be being applied directly on the paint without any barrier from the surface contaminants as they have all been removed. I guess you could compare it to a 2 in 1 shampoo conditioner, the way it removes dirt while leaving the conditioner in.

I have used Crystal Glow and it is a great product read about it on here so I decided to try it and it does what they say. There are a few acrylic polishs out now and they are probably all like. In my opion they are better than the regular waxes and polishes out. Another one I found on a VW site under detailing is Klasse http://www.autopia-carcare.com/klasse1.html and it is great. After you use there All In One and go over it with there sealant it puts on a good shine and the more times you go over it with there sealant the deeper the shine gets. Comparing the Klasse to the CG I think it takes less of the Klasse to go over a truck but then the CG is all in one bottle where as you have to put the Klasse All In One on first which is a cleaner/polish and then go over it again with the Klasse sealant but it sure don't take long to do it. I think they say on a car you use a ounce of the Klasse sealant which ain't much. I have not use the Klasse on my HD yet been using the CG but the next time I use it I will put it on.
Heres another site http://BikeDepot.net

Schultz is correct. Again, I am not putting down CG. But as it has been stated Klasse is probably the best known name when it comes to acrylic sealants. Their AIO states that is cleans and polishes while leaving a protective barrier..same a CarLack68 and Werkstatt Prime... and all three will state that adding layers will remove the first. The reason they do this is to give a good clean start to another sealant (such as Klasse Sealant Glaze) that is pure and can be layered. I have never had the need to use CG but they give very similar descriptions as the other three.
