I was looking at Mchad's post about his new crash bar and started thinking about it again. Anybody using one with forward controls? Photos if you have them would be appreciated. I tried a HD bar when I first got my bike which was supposed to work, but no go.
Not sure what year or type dyna you have but I got this one about a year ago, I was very skeptical because of the price but it has held up good, not rust, the heel/foot pads are still tight. The bracket goes under the forwards so it doesn't use them damn u-bolts. It also comes in black.
I looked at the e-bay site and it says 7" between lower brackets. Mine are like 12.5". Your picture looks more than 7". Witch is right? HELP
What makes our engine guards better than cheap $89 engine guards?...The thickness of the steel tube wall and our Triple Chrome Plating. Our engine guards are made with sturdy 1/8" thick diameter wall tube steel (thicker than Harley Davidson, Kuryakyn, or Lindby Multibar engine guards) SURFACE TREATMENT: TRUE TRIPLE PLATED We pride ourselves on spending the extra money to triple plate our engine guards. Almost everything for sale in the market today is just nickel and chrome plated, or even worse, it's just "flashed" with one plate of chrome and begins to rust after the first rain. Even Harley Davidson engine guards are not triple plated. Our engine guards are true triple plated - Copper, then Nickel, then Chrome. The copper is necessary to help 1) help eliminate some scratches, and 2) give the nickel plate a stronger bond. Also, the copper base also gives the chrome a deep rich looking color (as opposed to the "blue tint" that comes from just nickel and flash chrome plating). Our engine guards pass a Grade 8 salt test. That means that unless you live near the ocean or leave your bike in harsh conditions every day, this engine guard will last several years before it will begin to rust. MEASURES: 31.3" wide from side to side, and 7" distance between the lower mounting brackets
I am not sure what they are saying when they say 7" distance between the lower mounting brackets, maybe the bracket that goes under the forwards is 7 inch long? My bike is not here so I can't go look but it fit by 07 perfectly.
