Im new to owning a HD but not to riding. Been riding for about 18 years now all on metrics(Honda, Yamaha). I have run across a lot of threads on other platforms and there seems to be a lot of hate for the FXDWG. Is it all in good fun or is there something I should know about my new to me HD?
Japanese bike forums are full of anti Harley crap, they seem to be obsessed with Harley...
I put a lot of miles on my SGS last year. Made me realize how much I miss riding my WG. It's loud, fast and gives you a bump in sperm count. SGS is going to be sitting more this year.
WG's can look all sorts of cool. We even chopped one. It all comes down to preference / taste. I'll never sell my '11 WG.
Get rid of the skinny 80/90 on the front and put a 90/90 on to solve a lot of (not all of) the handling problems. I ride mine to the Tail once or twice a year, and it does great.
I see a lot of wide glide hate too on facebook. I think it's mostly younger dudes trying to distance themselves from what they perceive as boomer/old guy bikes. I have some younger friends and they will replace perfectly good (and cool looking imo) parts because "it's old guy ****".
Only thing I see on Facebook Dyna groups is lots of club bikes, mostly all looking the same (quarter fairing, t-bars, V&H shortshots or Thunderheader pipes, black paint, etc.).
I may be weird, but my Wide Glide is a more comfortable ride than my last 99 Softail was. They both have the 21" front rim. I put the 90/90/21 Night Dragon on my Wide Glide. Makes a difference. If there is anything I'd change about it, probably the color. Some days I like it, some days I get sick of the yellow. There aren't any newer bikes yet that really turn my head enough to trade her in though.
Its the best bike, I grew up on moto x and sport bikes , My 07 begs to be cornered, sometimes My heel catches the road and knocks my foot off the pegs(sz13).
if anyone says the bike doesnt handle you cant ride

exactly what I mean. I fly on this thing and it is stable and responsive. It makes me a bad bad person this bike.
The wg's have that look, the one I road years ago I do believe that there was a fork issue? As it had play in the front end when doing a counter steer... Seemed like the bars would give half to an inch before the lean.. But dude loved it!! His bike his set up!
But soon I'm looking to go mid glide to get away from the narrow glide... Bike look weird at a distance
