Default Turn Signal/Load Equalizer Questions

I know I need a load equalizer if I change all 4 signals to LEDs or the small marker lights...my question is:

If I just change just the front ones and leave the rears stock - do I still need a load equalizer?...Will the stock rear ones still work after I install the equalizer?

I know lots of things but wiring/electronics will always remain a mystery.......

It was explained to me that you will need one LE for the front and one for the rear signals. So if you only change out the front lamps, you'll only need one LE. From what I've seen and read, installation is a breeze. Just make sure that you mount the LE to the frame to help dissipate the heat. I'll be changing out my rear signals soon.

Good Luck!

I've only used one equalizer when I changed all 4. Try it with just the front then when you do the rears see what happens.

I used the kuryakn kit for the panacea tail light. It allows for 2 load equalizers to be plugged in right to the unit. I'd just try it with out one and see if you notice them flashing too fast. You can always add one in if its needed.

I put LED bulbs in the rear and they blinked fast.

Added the Badlands lll load equalizer (doesnt get hot) and it fixed it.

Added LED bulbs to the front and it still corrects them.

I changed out the rear bulbs and didn't need an LE. When I swapped out the front they went blink-crazy. Never experimented with changing only the fronts though. I only used one LE on the front and it was enough to trick the module and the blink rate went back to normal. A word of caution, if you're swapping out the rears and using the run/turn/brake module don't splice the LE in AFTER the module. The constant current feeding the "running" lights will fry the LE and probably anything else it touches.

Must depend on the bulbs. Mine blinked fast with just the rear LED, may also be that I have a LED brake light. A guy from Biketronics also said I wouldnt need one with just the rear but both me and my buddies duece (same bulbs and both with LED taillight) needed one.

I got the Badlands lll that plugs in. Its a little higher than the splice one but takes 1 minute to install.

thanks guys....I'm looking to switch to a small set of marker lights up front to "de-clutter" the bars a bit but I want to keep the stock rears....guess I'll just swap em out up front and see if they work....if not I'll get the LE

One more data point for you to consider:

I changed out one rear turn sig with an LED marker.
It blinked very fast when I gave it a try. Wasn't too bad so I mounted the other rear and fired it up. Both sides blinked fast - but then on the second cycle - they went back to normal and have worked fine for 4 months - no issues.

my bike is a 2005.

I'd just try the swap before buying the equalizer.

Been there done that. Bottom line is: If using Kury LED signals - and change front OR rear signals to LED you will not need a load equalizer, however if you are going LED for BOTH front and rear you will need to install ONE load equalizer.
