Jack came today. I bought all grade 8 bolts and nuts.
When I was drilling out the support parts I was surprised how soft the metal was. After I cut the cross bar off I cut it into 3 pieces a bit over 2 5/8" and ground them down to fit inside the lift support things where the bolts went through. The cross bar was only long enough for 3 spacers, but I found a similar size piece of stock in the junk box for the fourth one. I didn't read all the thread so this my be a standard thing to do. I just figured the support things might bend when I torqued the 1/2" bolts down.
I couldn't find any 1/2" spacers that looked strong at all, so I used four 3/4" nuts as my spacers. They were just about exactly 1/2" thick.
Jack works too good.
